There is no average settlement for a RoundupⓇ cancer claim. However, there have been several high-value settlements and verdicts, including the following: 

• $10.9 billion settlement: In 2020, Bayer offered $10.9 billion to settle existing claims against the manufacturer. The settlement agreement set aside between $8.8 billion and $9.6 billion for approximately 90,000 existing legal actions and $1.25 billion for future litigation. 
• $2.25 billion verdict: A Philadelphia jury awarded $2.25 billion to a man who alleged that RoundupⓇ caused him to develop cancer, according to AP News. A judge later reduced the award to $400 million ($50 million in compensatory damages and $350 million in punitive damages).
• $2 billion verdict: A California jury awarded $2.05 billion to a husband and wife who alleged that RoundupⓇ caused them both to develop cancer. The award included $55 million in compensatory damages and $1 billion each in punitive damages for both the husband and wife, according to NPR. A judge later reduced that verdict to $86.7 million, with $17 million in compensatory damages and $69 million in punitive damages.  
• $1.56 billion verdict: A Missouri jury awarded $1.56 billion to four plaintiffs who alleged that their cancers stemmed from RoundupⓇ exposure, according to Reuters. A Missouri judge cut that verdict to $611 million, awarding $61.1 million in compensatory damages and $549.9 million in punitive damages.
• $332 million award: A California jury awarded $332 million to a man diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The jury found that Monsanto failed to warn consumers of the risks of using RoundupⓇ. However, the jury did not find Bayer’s product design was flawed and did not find the company negligent, according to an AP News article.
• $289 million award: In the first-ever RoundupⓇ verdict, a California jury ordered Bayer to pay a groundskeeper and pest-control manager $289 million after he used RoundupⓇ regularly for decades and developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. A judge later stated that the punitive damages needed to match the awarded compensatory damages ($39.25 million). The judge reduced the final award to $78.5 million, according to an NPR article. 
• $175 million verdict: A Philadelphia jury found Bayer liable and awarded $175 million ($150 million in punitive damages, $25 million in compensatory damages) to a man who alleged that RoundupⓇ caused his cancer. Bayer attempted to appeal this verdict by claiming the presiding judge had coerced jurors to change their votes. In response, the judge increased the verdict by $2.3 million, calling the challenge “unfathomable,” “stubborn,” and “indignant.”
• $80 million award: A California jury ordered Bayer to pay a man $80 million—$5.2 million in compensatory damages and $75 million in punitive damages. Months later, a judge slashed the punitive damages to $20 million.  
• $3.5 million verdict: A Pennsylvania jury awarded a woman $3.5 million who claimed that her use of RoundupⓇ led to her developing cancer. The award included $3 million in punitive damages and $462,500 in compensatory damages. 
• $1.25 million award: A St. Louis jury ordered Bayer to pay $1.25 million in compensatory damages to a man who developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after using RoundupⓇ, according to a Reuters article. 

Even with slashed verdicts, Bayer has paid out billions of dollars in verdicts and settlements since litigation began in 2015.
